A Journey Through Time at Hwaseong Fortress
GCC began with a day that blended history, culture, and relationship building.
Participants came from multiple countries and came with curiosity already in motion.
Morning: a gentle field trip into the past
A trolley ride around Hwaseong Fortress set the tone—shared history makes conversation easy.
As we moved around the ancient wall, people introduced themselves naturally. The heat lifted, and so did social tension.
Midday: palace to museum, then lunch
At Hwaseong Haenggung, we explored architecture and etiquette stories from Korea’s Joseon period.
Next door, the Suwon Art Museum offered a modern contrast that sparked discussion about how tradition and contemporary creativity coexist.
Lunch became the social glue:
- kalguksu and donkatsu,
- cross-cultural laughter,
- and a few gentle language surprises.
Closing: reflection in a hanok café
We ended in a hanok café, talking in a circle and naming what stood out.
The event set a clear pattern for GCC: history with relationship, art with service, and learning through shared time.
